RICHARD Dryden believes striker Matt Dinsmore has what it takes to make it in the professional ranks.

Teenager Dinsmore, a product of City's academy, was the star of the show in Monday's 1-0 win against Vauxhall Motors, terrorising the visitors with his pace and forcing keeper Andrew Murphy into two fine saves.

His performance came hot on the heels of him scoring within four minutes of coming on as a substitute in Saturday's 3-1 defeat at Hyde.

"We have been raving about him for a while now," manager Dryden said. "Matt's a player who if he keeps his head screwed on and lives right could make a great career in the next 10 or 15 years.

"He was the best player on the pitch and he's 18. It's not a one-off, you won't get it every game with him but you know what you're going to get from him. He doesn't give anything up. He's got everything.

"If I was a big, strapping six-foot centre-half still I don't think I'd want to mark him."

Chris Smith's third-minute header was enough to earn City three points but they might have bagged a hatful.

Dryden said: "It's probably the biggest 1-0 hammering I've ever been involved in. You've got to give their keeper great credit because some of his saves were unbelievable.

"I gave the players a bit of a knocking after the Workington game when we had loads of chances and couldn't hit the target. Against Vauxhall we created loads and I would like to see the shots-on-target count because we made the keeper work and hit the post.

"It's probably been the best performance we have had since I've been here."

Emeka Nwadike will serve a one-match ban against Tamworth on March 15 after picking up his fifth booking of the season against Vauxhall.
