WORCESTER City Women missed out on the opportunity to close the gap on the West Midlands Division One South league leaders with a 1-1 draw at Leamington Lions.
Hazel Adams put City ahead before the hosts earned a point with a strike 20 minutes from time. Genie Ward also saw her free-kick come back off the crossbar with five minutes remaining.
However, Paul Hennessey's side are still five points behind Hereford Phoenix after the leaders lost against Fairfield Villa.
Captain Vicky Andrews said: "I was gutted when I heard Hereford had lost.
"To close the gap to three points, the game against Hereford in a few weeks would have been massive.
"We didn't capitalise on it but we didn't know it at the time. We have just got to worry about ourselves and then see how Hereford get on."
Worcester have six games left, starting with the visit of third-placed Birmingham Athletic to Bilford Road on Sunday (2pm).
Issy Atkinson scored twice as the reserves defeated Leominster Ladies 4-2 in the Kidderminster and District County Soccersite League Cup.
After going behind, Lauren Buswell and Atkinson put Worcester 2-1 up at half-time. Leominster levelled but had a player sent off soon after.
Atkinson edged City ahead with her second before keeper Claire Jordan saved a penalty.
Katie Hooper sealed the win by chipping the keeper late on.
