THE possibility of Worcester City playing their football in Blue Square South next season was a major factor in Adam Webster's surprise departure, according to manager Richard Dryden.
Webster joined Hinckley United on a free transfer yesterday.
The 27-year-old striker, who scored 95 goals in 256 games for City after signing in December 2001, has been the subject of continued interest from Hinckley.
Manager Dryden said: "We have been hoping to stay in contention for the play-offs and when you look at the table now there is a great gap.
"I think the travelling is starting to get to Adam and Hinckley is right on his doorstep. We have got to see what league we are in next season and Adam wants to stay a bit more local."
As for replacements, Dryden said: "I have got one or two I am looking at, but for next season. Whether I bring them in now I am still deciding."
