KIDDERMINSTER Harriers' manager Mark Yates will be looking for his players to show a vast improvement from their last outing when they host Rushden and Diamonds in the fifth round of the Setanta Shield tonight (7.45pm).

The Aggborough chief was left fuming after Saturday's 2-1 defeat to Salisbury City and he is ready to swing the axe tonight.

Despite taking the lead through Russ Penn, Harriers switched of to allow the Wiltshire side to take all home points back home.

But with no league points at stake this evening, the Setanta Shield is the last chance for Yates' men of claiming any glory this term.

"One or two of the performances against Salisbury doesn't warrant them getting a shirt for tonight," Yates fumed.

"I felt that a number of players took liberties in that game - they were playing for themselves and not for Kidderminster Harriers.

"That is not what I'm about and not what we are about."

Harriers form of late has left a lot to be desired and with the play-offs out of reach, Yates will be wanting his side to finish the campaign strongly to give them a platform into next term.

But the Aggborough outfit have been rebuilding their squad following a busy January in the transfer window which saw the likes of top-scorer James Constable, Scott Bevan and skipper Stu-art Whitehead all head through the exit door to be replaced by a crop of highly-rated, but inexperienced, youngsters.

Rushden head to Aggborough on the back of a 1-0 win over Altrincham thanks to Michael Rankine's 12th minute strike.
