WORCESTER'S Can Do drag racing team are celebrating victory in two competitions this season.
The family-run team, which boasts over 50 years of drag racing experience, claimed both the 2007 National Championship and the Santa Drag Racing Club Championship titles with recent wins at the Northampton drag race strip and the Long Marston strip, near Stratford on Avon.
The team consists of Lee, Brian and Marc Huxley, who are all from Worcester.
Builder Lee and retired garage proprietor Brian collected their trophiesat the dinner and dance at the Park Inn Hotel in Northampton.
The Can Do team compete in the Sportsman ET class, which features taxed and MOT'd street-legal cars - the only special requirements are a full harness seat belt, race suit and helmet.
The class is very competitive with many different types of cars taking part, ranging from Minis to Ford Escorts.
Lee and Brian won the championship titles in their 1966 Ford Mustang Coupe 4.7-litre V8, which has an automatic gearbox. Can Do also race a Ford hot rod, called Top Banana, which managed to finish fifth in the National Championship.
Both cars are now being prepared for the Easter meeting at Santa Pod on March 21 to 24.
The team is sponsored by Worcestershired-based companies Bradford's Building Supplies, Bromsgrove Motor Factors, Sneddon and Sons Roofing, Spiders Disco Services and Huxley Builders.
