WORCESTER City Women missed out on a place in the County Cup semi-final with a 3-1 defeat against Hereford Phoenix.
Hazel Adams restored parity after Hereford had taken a first-half lead but the visitors were 2-1 ahead soon into the second period and wrapped up victory in an times fiesty en-counter 20 minutes from time.
It is the second time Paul Hennessey's side have lost to their rivals this season and they are currently six points behind them in the race for the West Midlands Division One South title.
Worcester captain Vicky Andrews said the defeat was tough to take but wants her team-mates to bounce back when they resume their league campaign at Leamington on Sunday.
She said: "It was quite a close game but unfortunately we weren't on the right end of the scoreline."
