UPTON travelled to the Warwickshire countryside for their Midlands Five West (South) clash with Pinley and came away with a 26-15 success.
The visitors were quick out of the blocks with both the forwards and backs putting good moves together and making big inroads into the Pinley half.
The opening score came after nine minutes when speedster Alex Pimlow gathered a clearance from Pinley on the Upton 10-metre line and burst to within touching distance of the try-line, before off-loading to flanker Adam Heath, who touched down. Chris O'Neil converted.
Pinley staged a period of pressure and were rewarded with a try from flanker Foster which was converted by Wilks to level the scores.
The second-half began with the home side playing into the sun, which was causing them a few problems.
Upton took advantage with hooker Rob Heeley making good ground before shipping the ball on to winger Matt Jeffreys who ran on to score in the corner.
From the restart, O'Neil passed on to Pimlow on Upton's 22. Pimlow stepped on the gas and ran a curving route in under the posts. O'Neil converted for a 19-7 lead.
Upton put on replacements and kept Pinley pinned back with some long booming kicks from Dan Keyte, returning after a two-month injury lay-off.
Gradually Pinley changed tactics and used their wingers to make ground and, from one dash, Upton infringed 35 metres out and Wilks converted the penalty.
With 15 minutes left, Upton won a line-out on the Pinley five-metre line through Lorcan Lynch. A quick pass to replacement scrum-half Brad Raymond saw the number nine throw' a dummy and go through for a try under the posts, with Keyte converting.
Pinley kept up the pressure and left winger Jones beat the covering defence to touch down wide out following a chip and chase.
