HANLEY Swan trainer Andy Hobbs continued his fine run of form at the North Hereford Hunt point-to-point meeting at Whitwick Manor when he scored a double with Sant Reverien and Ben Ryan.
Saint Reverein was sent off an odds-on favourite in the Confined race to make amends for his third place last time out.
Connections were looking for a change of tactics to help the enigmatic nine-year-old return to winning ways.
Jockey Adrain Wintle dispensed with the normal waiting tactics and sent his mount to the front at the fourth last fence.
Saint Reverein responded by staying on strongly to withstand the chasing Master Club Royal by two-and-a-half lengths.
Winning owner Clive Hitchings said: "We thought we would revert to the old tactics as he does worry when he sees the crowds and that was the trouble at Thorpe last time out.
"We will have to pick his courses carefully in future."
Winning jockey Wintle then sprinted for a waiting car to take him to Haydock to partner Royal Hector in the hunterchase on that card.
In his absence, the ride on the stable's Ben Ryan in the first division of the young horse Maiden race went to Nick Oliver.
The partnership-owned horse took the 16 runner event from the chasing Alexander Musical.
Oliver then followed that with a double of his own aboard the Nigel Lilley-owned and Caroline Walker-trained King Shaadi in the second division of the Maiden race.
Eastnor trainer Nicky Sheppard is still recovering from injuries sustained out hunting and she had a welcome tonic when her Lough Ennel won the Men's Open race.
But those punters who supported the odds-on favourite were made to suffer as the ex-hurdler Shady Anne almost caused a shock.
Looking like the winner at the second last fence, Shady Anne then tired and Liam Payter was able to assert on the odds-on favourite and win by four lengths.
Owner Rae Jones confirmed the winner will again be aimed at Howick to continue his good form at the track.
Leading lady jockey Polly Gundry was another to score a double at the track with wins on the ex-Irish Emmet Hotel in the Restricted Open and Kiama in a division of the Mares Maiden race.
Dave Mansell and Shobden trainer Steve Flook teamed up to take the second division of the Mares Maiden race with the five-year-old No Virtue.
