ADAM Webster has spoken of his delight at scoring his first Worcester City goal for five months.

Webster's 82nd-minute equaliser against Nuneaton Borough on Tuesday was the first time he had found the net since City beat Leigh RMI 3-1 on September 15.

Remarkably, his headed effort, which earned City a deserved point at Liberty Way, was only his fifth goal in 25 starts this season.

It also coincided with his return to the front-line after a prolonged spell on the right of midfield and two spells out with ankle injuries.

"It's been a long time, too long for my liking, since the last goal I scored," Webster said.

"I have been playing a lot in midfield and had two injuries that required stitches.

"I was surprised to be starting because I haven't trained in three weeks due to the injury.

"I scored against Workington and it got disallowed and then I got injured. It's been a long time but I am delighted to get on the scoresheet and to get something from Nuneaton. They seem to be a bit of a bogey side for us.

"We got the goal and a point was a fair result. With a bit more time, we might have sneaked something."

Webster was one of many star performers for City on the night but admits a lack of goals this term came into play when his 47th-minute close-range effort was saved.

He said: "Not playing up front, I was a bit cautious with my effort on goal, a striker with confidence would have put that in the back of the net.

"It was good to get on the scoresheet because confidence grows and that's what strikers depend on."

He added: "I want to get back fit again. The injury is slowly getting better. It's still a little bit sore but well enough to play with and hopefully the 10 days break will give it a good rest.

"You need to get more matches to get match fit but training will help."
