COLIN Davis continued his excellent run in Halfway Angling Club matches by recording his second consecutive win on the club's Church Farm Pool.
Once again carp failed to show, but good weights of silver fish were taken with Davis' 20-4-0 being the best.
Drawn mid-way along the pool on peg 10 he offered red maggot on a waggler set-up over a bed of groundbait to take a mainly bream net made up of fish between 12 ounces and three pounds.
Consistent Keith Deaner claimed second prize with another skimmer catch, taken on pole and maggot from peg 22 and weighing 19-14-0.
Steve Williams' third-placed 17-12-0 net also included some good roach that came from peg 28, while fourth spot went to top clubman Richard Oliver who used pole and maggot on peg 14 to record a level 12-0-0.
Carp were feeding on the Wards AC pool with some good winter weights recorded on the club's latest winter league encounter.
Leon Elsworth came out on top. He knows the pool well and tackled the snaggy margins of peg 19 with some hefty pole gear which enabled him to land five carp for a winning 15-11-0. Big lumps of luncheon meat on a size 10 hook were his winning tactics!
Terry Box was relegated to second place, but he too took an all-carp net on corn from peg 13 which tipped the scales at 12-4-0.
Three carp for 8-15-0 made up Keith Lambeth's third place catch which also fell to corn from peg 11.
Weights were low for the frost-affected Swan AC contest held on the Worcester-Birmingham Canal at Alvechurch.
Winner James Wilson pin-ned his faith in the caster, which he offered into the deeper centre channel, and was rewarded with an excellent roach over a pound which, along with a few smaller redfins', recorded a top weight of 3-11-0.
In second place came breadpunch specialist Les Sanders who used his favourite bait to good effect, netting small roach and finishing just short of the winner with 3-6-0.
Third place fell to canal veteran Ivor Ballard, weighing in two skimmers, caught on maggot bait and going 2-3-0.
The Wye Charity event at Hereford fell to Lee Gardener (WB Clarke) who caught 32 small barbel, six bream and five chub on groundbait feeder and maggots from peg 87 at Belmont for 63-12-0.
