THE final round of the West Midlands Cyclo-Cross League took place at Friary Leisure Centre in Lichfield.

Unfortunately the hawthorn bushes around the course had recently been cut, which led to numerous punctures.

Worcester St John's club riders Joe and Holly Page rode in the youth race.

Joe punctured with two laps to go and had to push his bike half a lap and ended up ninth. Holly finished 20th and managed to avoid punctures.

Joe finished with an impressive sixth place overall and Holly did extremely well in her first year in this age category and finished 12th and second girl overall.

Vince Page finished sixth and was third overall in the veteran category.

Meanwhile, St John's club social rides start from the Worcester bridge at 9.30am on Sundays.

Rides vary but tend to cover about 55 miles through the lanes of Worcestershire, Here-fordshire and Gloucestershire.

There is a cafe stop after 30/35 miles at around 11.30.

Average speed of the rides is 15/16mph and the ride returns to Worcester between 1pm and 2.00pm.

No-one is left behind, if there is a mechanical problem everyone waits for the unlucky rider.

All cyclists are welcome to join in and more information can be obtained from club members, Peddlers Cycle Shop, Worcester City Cycles and JD Cycles, Worcester.
