STOURPORT Men's Firsts enhanced their Slazenger English Hockey League National North Division promotion claims.
They defeated leaders University of Birmingham 3-1 with goals from Rob Allen, Irfan Yousaf and David Devey.
But Stourport remain third in the table after being held 3-3 by fourth-placed Leek the next day.
John Mumford, Imran Yousaf and Mark Moss scored in that match which saw Leek pull back two late goals.
Stourport Women's Firsts won both their Midlands B' Division games in a double header to take over at the top of the table.
They won 4-1 at Belper and then saw off Hinckley 3-2 in a rearranged game.
With a skeleton squad due to illness and holidays, Stourport contested a goalless first-half with Belper.
Sophie Harris shot the best chance straight at the keeper but she put them ahead in an improved second-half from a short corner.
Katie Miller tapped in the second following Jodi Vincent's cross after good link-up play between Georgie Burns and Kate Fletcher. The third goal arrived when Becky Urch broke up an attack and Kerry Maughan found player-of-the-match Harris who scored at the second attempt.
Becky Turner controlled the Stourport defence but a cruel deflection gave Belper a consolation before Maughan converted a short corner.
In their Hinckley triumph, Stourport took a second-minute lead through Sarah Cavendish from a short corner.
Hinckley drew level on 15 minutes but Stourport regained the lead through Vincent from a rebound following Cavendish's pass.
A well-rehearsed corner routine saw Fran Moss put Stourport 3-1 up before Hinckley swooped late in the first-half.
Keeper Turner and player-of-the-match Harriet Burns ensured victory in the second period.
Stourport Seconds, without three key players, lost 4-1 at Harborne in Worcestershire League Division One.
Stourport dominated early on but then fell foul to a breakaway and two short-corner goals. Harborne added a controversial penalty flick before Jen Peniket pulled a goal back.
The thirds drew 5-5 with Badsey in a thriller.
The hosts were constantly pegged back by the visitors who scored their final equaliser five minutes from time.
Dani Turley (two), Jade Marshall-Walker, Kate Bailey and Ellie Rogers scored the goals.
Stourport Fourths steamed to a 6-0 victory at King's Heath Seconds with Rosie Connolly (two), Mel Turley, Teri Baron, Julia Hopkins and Emma O'Hara on target.
