ADAM Webster headed home eight minutes from time to earn Worcester City a deserved 1-1 Blue Square North draw at Nuneaton Borough.

Webster was on hand to pounce and beat Darren Acton from six yards after Jamie Price had driven the ball into the penalty area from the left.

It was no more than City's efforts had merited in the second-half as they laid siege to the Borough goal in a bid to cancel out Bradley Pritchard's 14th-minute opener.

Boss Richard Dryden had demanded an improvement from his side following the Hucknall horror show at the weekend when City lost 1-0.

Dryden could be happy with the reaction, particularly after the break, with every player giving their all for the cause.

Webster, defender Ryan Clarke and midfielder Emeka Nwadike were outstanding.

But keeper Cameron Belford rose above the rest to keep his side in the contest with a string of fine reaction saves throughout an entertaining match.

Nuneaton were much the better side in the first-half and it needed the on-loan Bury custodian to be on top form to stop the hosts opening up the two-goal advantage they had enjoyed when the lights went out at Liberty Way a month ago, leading to tonight's rearranged fixture.

Kevin Wilkin's side could have been out of sight before City had even got a foothold in the game.

With just four minutes gone, a Rapinder Gill error 25 yards out let in Alex Rodman and he sprinted forward.

Rodman's shot was smothered by Belford who then got up to block smartly from Andy Brown's follow-up.

Pritchard headed captain Tom Curtis' corner narrowly over and Rodman glanced a header just wide from Simon Travis' cross.

Nuneaton were dangerous going forward and got their reward on 14 minutes.

Connor Franklin's corner was punched out by Belford but the ball fell to Pritchard and he smashed it into the roof of the net from the edge of the area.

The hosts thought they had got a second on 28 minutes but Belford held onto the ball on the line after it had been forced through a crowded box following a corner.

The visiting keeper was also called into action two minutes later, this time saving well from Brown's fierce drive.

Gary Walker, who had been handed a rare start in midfield, was replaced by Nick Colley at the break and City took the game by the scruff of the neck. Webster was denied superbly by Acton minutes after the restart.

Brown miscued horribly from six yards on 52 minutes and Belford came to City's rescue 13 minutes later, flying to his right to push out Brown's shot on the turn and blocking Rodman's rebound.

Then it was all City. Time after time, they broke forward and got their reward on 82 minutes. Price drilled the loose ball back across goal and it ricocheted up for Webster to head home.
