SECOND-placed Upton claimed an important 25-12 Midlands Five West (South) home victory over third-placed Dudley Wasps.
Dudley missed a couple of penalties in the early exchanges, before Upton took the lead after 30 minutes when hooker Rob Heeley touched down for the opening try.
Despite the home side's dominance, the Wasps' defence held out and there were no more scores before half-time.
After the break, skipper Chris O'Neil soon increased Upton's lead with a penalty from 30 metres. Full-back O'Neil then kicked towards the Dudley 22, where the visiting full-back was stripped of possession by Alex Pimlow, who ran on to score.
Five minutes later, Pimlow sped in from 40 metres for another try and O'Neil converted.
With 15 minutes left, Dudley's full-back ran through a stretched defence to score.
However, Upton weren't about to give up their lead and Lorcan Lynch was on hand to score from the back of a ruck.
The game was now won, but there was still time for Dudley to get a converted final try.
