KIDDERMINSTER Harriers' new keeper Chris MacKenzie is looking to lay some ghosts to rest when they head to second-place Torquay United.

In his first spell at Aggborough earlier the season, the former Shrewsbury Town stopper made a disappointing start to his loan period as Harriers crashed to a 5-1 defeat.

And after keeping a clean sheet against Northwich Victoria last Saturday in Blue Square Premier, the 35-year-old is ready to face the Gulls again.

"It's a bit like deja vu playing Torquay again," MacKen-zie smiled. "It is a chance for me to lay a few ghosts to rest and show Torquay that last time was a fluke."

The ex-Chester City stopper signed on a permanent basis until the end of the season on transfer deadline day last week having spent two-mon-ths on-loan at Harriers earlier in the season. He was one of four new faces at Aggborough last Friday as boss Mark Yates shook up his squad with four heading through the exit door.

"It was a bit muted the day after deadline day," MacKenzie revealed. "Obviously with the new boys coming in and some of the old characters gone the atmosphere was completely different from when I was here the last time.

"But we are all getting to know each other and the trip to Torquay is a good chance for us all to prove ourselves."

MacKenzie arrived at Aggborough with Shrewsbury team-mate Luke Jones, who unlike the custodian is here on a month's loan.

"This is a great opportunity for Luke," MacKenzie said. "It has been a difficult season for him at Shrewsbury and this is his chance."

The veteran keeper said he is delighted to be back at Harriers and is hoping to earn a new contract for next season.

"I could have stayed at Shrewsbury kicking my heels and picking up my wages," he added. "But I'm not that type of player, I need to play."
