FORMER Barnards Green player Daniel Flynn could not help New Zealand avoid a 50-run Twenty20 defeat to England.

England sealed a 2-0 series win in Christchurch, dismissing Flynn, an unpaid overseas player at Green in 2003 and 2005, for just one run from two balls.

The 22-year-old replaced Jacob Oram, who suffered a hamstring injury, and was the seventh wicket to fall as the Kiwis closed on 143-8 in reply to England's 193-8.

Meanwhile, England captain Paul Collingwood felt he could not ask any more of his players.

The tourists followed up Tuesday's 32-run win in Auckland by maintaining their 100 per cent record since arriving in the country.

Man-of-the-match Collingwood hit 54 off only 28 balls to rescue England after they lost four wickets in 16 balls.

He guided them to a highly-competitive 193-8 before his impressive attack restricted New Zealand to 143-8 in reply.

"I've said all along that New Zealand are a dangerous side and what we can take out of it is our own performances," said Collingwood, who hit five fours and three sixes in his innings and shared in an England record stand of 102 off 63 balls with Owais Shah.

"We've done a lot of talking in the dressing room about what we're going to do, the plans we're going to have and we've taken that out onto the pitch - I can ask no more of the players."

England now move on to Wellington for the start of the five-match one-day series tomorrow.

But Collingwood added: "I wouldn't say we've demoralised them because I think they'll realise it's a different form of the game, but what we can take is a lot of confidence from our performances."
