IT was another miserable batting performance from the Worcestershire Rapids as they lost a seventh Vitality Blast game in eight matches after a 39 run defeat to Derbyshire Falcons at New Road.
The hosts produced a disciplined bowling performance after winning the toss and having a bowl, restricting Derbyshire to 167/7.
But other than a half century from Brett D'Oliveira and a swift 35 from Jack Haynes, no batter from the Rapids scored in double figures as they fell well short for the second time in two games.
Worcestershire won the toss and put Derbyshire into bat on a sunny evening at New Road.
And it was a promising start as Moeen Ali took two early wickets inside the opening fourth overs.
Moeen got his first when Luis Reece (11) was caught by Charlie Morris before Australian Hayden Kerr (2) picked out Worcestershire debutant Kashif Ali to hand the skipper his second wicket.
Opener Shan Masood was in decent form and steadily built a score with Wayne Madsen (16) before the latter was caught by Ed Cox off the bowling of Ed Barnard.
Masood then reached his half century in the 10th over as Derbyshire stood on 87/3 at the half-way point.
The bowling attack was far more disciplined than the night before as the visitors wavered between seven and eight runs an over.
Leus Du Plooy and Masood remained and ran ones and twos to keep the score ticking over before Madsen went on the offensive.
A series of boundaries pushed him up to 65 before his innings was brought to an end when he went for a big drive off D'Oliveira. But he could only nick it through to Cox who took the catch.
Du Plooy (27) was next to go in the 16th over as he top edged a Dwayne Bravo delivery into the sky and eventually Cox took the catch.
Bravo had his second in the 18th over when he clean bowled Alex Hughes (9) as the Rapids looked to keep up the pressure.
And then in the last over, Bravo took a catch in the deep as Brook Guest (9) went for a big shot down the field to give Pat Brown his first wicket.
A couple of sixes added a few runs to the total for the visitors, who ended on 168/7 from their 20 overs.
It looked a manageable chase for the Rapids but they were dealt two early blows to start their innings when Jake Libby (3) and Moeen Ali (0) both fell in the opening two overs.
There was a big let off soon after as Brett D'Oliveira went to the skies only for two Derbyshire players to collide and drop an easy catch.
But Colin Munro (5) then handed the visitors a gift himself when he stepped out his crease going for a shot and Guest stumped him cheaply to leave Worcestershire reeling at 27/3.
D'Oliveira continued to plug away and together with Jack Haynes, the pair saw the hosts to the 50 mark by the end of the powerplay.
Haynes then scored 21 runs off an expensive eighth over from Derbyshire's George Scrimshaw as he raced onto 32 and pushed Rapids out to 75/3.
D'Oliveira was again dropped in the deep in the 11th over but a ball later Haynes (35) was bowled by Matt McKiernan to end the partnership that totalled 65.
Another catch went begging for Derbyshire as this time debutant Kashif was dropped before D'Oliveira reached his half century.
He rode his luck once but this time Kashif (3) was out in the next over as he was caught on the boundary by Hughes off the bowling of McKiernan.
Worcestershire reached 100 in the 14th over but still required 66 off 35 balls and their task became bigger when Barnard (4) was bowled by Hughes to leave them six wickets down.
Six became seven when Cox (5) was trapped LBW by McKiernan after facing just five balls and Dwayne Bravo (2) followed him to the pavilion minutes later as Worcestershire fell eight down.
D'Oliveira's knock came to an end in the 17th over and with it the game came to an end with Worcestershire falling 3
