WORCESTER Warriors’ captain Ted Hill believes his side “deserve” to lift the Premiership Rugby Cup ahead of the final on Tuesday night against London Irish.
It is just the second time Worcester will be in a top flight final and a full 14 years since they were in one.
And now, with a trophy lift just one game away, skipper Hill will be aiming to become the first ever Worcester captain in the professional era to lift a major trophy when he leads his players out tomorrow night at the Brentford Community Stadium.
“It would be amazing,” he said.
“I think it would not just be amazing for the players, the coaches, the staff, but also for the fans.
“The fans deserve it. It’s been a long time coming and been a long while since being in the mix for silverware so it’s great for the whole organisation.
“I think if we get to the point where we are lucky enough to win the trophy, we do deserve it.
“I deserve it, everyone here deserves it.
“Everyone in the club; the coaches, the staff, they all deserve it.”
Hill has not been involved in any of the games in the tournament so far but will captain the side from number eight tomorrow night.
Hill admitted it’s been tough to watch the games from the sidelines but is happy that he will get the chance to play in the showpiece event.
“In all honesty I was pretty gutted to not be involved in the semi-final,” he added.
“Seeing the boys do so well at Gloucester and knowing how hard they worked in that game, the final automatically crossed my mind.
“I had to resist the urge to enquire about whether I would play but I sat back and luckily enough when the team was announced the other day I was fortunate to be in it and I am so looking forward to it.”
