HEREFORD United boss Graham Turner was disappointed that he could not add to his squad on transfer deadline day, but says that it was not the end of the world.

With the emergency loan window opening on Friday the Edgar Street chief plans to make full use of it before it slams shut on Thursday, March 23. Turner did manage to bring in Southend United striker Gary Hooper on loan earlier in the week, but his plans to strengthen the squad on Thursday were thwarted.

"We had an offer for someone accepted by a club but the player in question decided to stay where he is," Turner said.

That player was Wrexham winger Matt Done and, while the 19-year-old opted to remain with the League Two strugglers, a loan move may appear more favourable for the youngster, whose contract at the Racecourse expires in the summer.

"The loan window is very important for clubs like us," Turner said. "I could have brought in players but there was no need to panic and fill spaces because I'm not unhappy with the squad I have here."

Turner is hoping that his squad will be boosted by the return to fitness of striker Steve Guinan, on-loan Liverpool defender Robbie Threlfall and midfielder Clint Easton.

Hereford will host Ledbury Town in the Herefordshire FA Senior Cup (7.30pm) on Tuesday night.
