WORCESTER Wolves are facing a major injury scare ahead of the biggest game in their history on Saturday.

Giant Shaun Durant, the 6ft 8ins forward, and shooting guard Ben Potts both face a race against time to make the British Basketball League Trophy semi-final with Guildford Heat (3.30pm).

Durant, who has averaged 10 rebounds so far this season, has been struggling with a foot injury which has now become infected and he must have a fitness test tomorrow.

Meanwhile, Potts has been receiving intensive treatment for a shoulder problem and will have a practice run before the end of the week.

He has been effective in key games coming off the bench and would also be sorely missed in such a big game.

Head coach Skouson Harker said: "Shaun tried to play last weekend against Plymouth after resting against Birmingham and it now seems that he came back too soon.

"We now have Ivan Brosko so we do have some cover in that position but we are still hopeful that Shaun will be able to play as he brings such a positive physical presence at both ends of the court. He is also a great motivator to the other guys in the team."

League champions and European representatives Guildford will be an imposing foe at Ponds Forge Arena, Sheffield, on Saturday.

Wolves have never been within 20 points of them in five defeats since joining the BBL and a semi-final victory would be one of the biggest upsets in the competition's history.

Harker admitted: "Guildford are a formidable side and now have the experience of a European campaign to draw on.

"We will not focus on any particular player as they have a great deal of depth. What we will focus on is our intensity in defence and self-belief in our offence.

"We go into the game with no fear and hopefully our performance will reflect that.

"Everyone in a Wolves shirt will have to be at the top of their game and higher. We too have some very talented players in our team and we can make that final."

Wolves still have a limited number of tickets available for the game.
