BROMSGROVE Rovers caretaker-manager Duane Darby insists that British Gas Business Premier Division safety is still his number one priority despite his side closing in on the play-off places.

Rovers welcome fellow promotion contenders Chippenham Town to the Victoria Ground tonight (7.45pm) as they look to make it seven league games without defeat.

And as their fine form continues, Bromsgrove suddenly find themselves with a slim chance of the play-off places although they have played several games more than the teams around them.

But the former Rushden striker says that a top five finish is not on his radar - yet.

"When I took the job my first aim was safety and that is still the case," Darby said. "I believe we will need 48 points and that is the target.

"Perhaps once we get 48 points we can start to look at what else we can achieve, but the most important thing is to keep this run going."

Rovers drew 2-2 at Hardenhuish Park just a fortnight ago so Darby knows what to expect from Adie Mings' Bluebirds.

Chippenham are in fourth place in the Premier Division on 41 points, while Darby's Rovers are 11th on 34 points.

Bromsgrove will be without striker Jozsef Jakab as he is still in Hungary, but he should be available for Saturday's trip to Mangotsfield United.

New signing Chris Cornes will look to build on his goal-scoring debut, while strike partner Richard Ball faces a fitness test on a knee injury, while David Bridgewater (leg) and Les Hines (hamstring) are also doubts.
