MIKE Dodge kept a cool head as Upton won 27-25 at fellow high-fliers Keresley in Midlands Five West (South).
Keresley opened the scoring on 20 minutes as a missed tackle allowed the left winger in for a converted try.
They added another five points from a driving maul three minutes later but Upton dug deep and Matt Jeffreys bagged his maiden league try.
Upton made a poor start to the second period as the hosts were allowed to run in from the halfway line. However, the visitors kept their cool and Dodge kicked a penalty.
Keresley countered with a penalty, despite a stamping on an Upton player, to extend the lead to 20-8. Upton had two players sin-binned and Keresley added an unconverted try.
But the 13 men hit back with a try from Russell Price which Dodge converted.
Upton returned to full strength with 13 minutes left and a catch and drive from a line-out led to another Price score.
He then intercepted a poor crossfield kick and sent Rob Heeley away for the equalising try. Dodge added the winning conversion.
