WORCESTER Warriors' hooker Finn Theobald-Thomas will make his first start for England Under-20s in Friday’s Six Nations match against Wales at Castle Park in Doncaster (kick-off 7.00pm).
Theobald-Thomas, 18, won his first cap as a replacement in the 6-0 defeat against Italy in Treviso two weeks ago and has now been promoted to the starting XV as one of eight changes made by England Under-20s Head Coach Alan Dickens.
Three Pears Warriors Academy star Theobald-Thomas has gained valuable senior experience on dual registrations with Stourbridge in National Two North and Nottingham in the Championship this season.
Although he was not included in England Under-20s initial squad for the Six Nations, he was called up as a travelling reserve for the tournament opener against Scotland and promoted to the matchday squad the following week.
“We had a tough game against Italy but we have had almost two weeks to reflect, analyse and plan for our game against Wales,” Dickens said.
“There’s been a great energy in camp this week with some more new faces involved.
“This week the focus has been on us and what we can control. That said, we will need to have the ability to tactically adapt within the game situation.
“Having home crowd support at Castle Park will bolster the boys as we take on a competitive Welsh side.”
