WELSH international fly-half Ceri Sweeney has issued a come-and-get-me plea to Worcester Warriors.

The Newport Gwent Dragons stand-off insists he has not spoken to Worcester but admits he would be interested in playing for the club, while Warriors director of rugby Mike Ruddock has made no secret of his admiration for the player.

The 28-year-old, who is out of contract at Rodney Parade at the end of this season, would compete with Samoan international Loki Crichton and James Brown for the Sixways number 10 jersey, as it looks likely Shane Drahm will be leaving the club.

Sweeney, who made the last of his 35 appearances for Wales against South Africa in November last year, played under Ruddock when the Sixways chief was in charge of the Welsh national team.

The outside-half said: "I would like to play in the Guinness Premiership and I worked with Mike before. He did really well with Wales in the Grand Slam year and I'm sure he'll do well at Worcester and it won't be long until he gets them moving up the table.

"I've had no contact with Worcester at all so far, but I could be interested in a move to the club. Playing for Worcester would certainly be an option for me but, as I say, I've heard nothing from the club yet.

"I've been in talks with a few clubs over in England, but I have nothing concrete sorted out yet. I'm also still in talks with the Dragons and I'm looking to make a decision about my future in the next month.

"My next contract will decide where I am for the next three years, so it will be very important for me to get it right.

"Like I said, I'd definitely be interested to see what could be done with Worcester but, what-ever happens, it has to be the right deal for me."

It is widely thought that Worcester will be in the market for a pair of top-quality half-backs for next season, especially as Australian fly-half Drahm's future appears to lie away from Sixways.

Current first-choice scrum-half Matt Powell confirmed he is expecting Drahm to leave the Warriors this year.

He said: "I imagine the club will be looking to strengthen the half-backs and, with Shane heading off, they will probably look to sign a fly-half.

"Shane is a quality player and he will want to be at a place where he is playing every week."

Meanwhile, back-row stars Netani Talei (knee) and Kai Horstmann (ankle) have both been passed fit to line up against Bristol in tomorrow's showdown at Sixways (3pm).

Ruddock said: "I don't think there'll be a huge amount of change to our team from recent matches, maybe a little tweak here and there. Kai and Netani have been passed fit for consideration."
