ADAM Webster is facing a race against time to be fit for Worcester City's trip to Southport on Saturday.
The St George's Lane striker limped off at half-time in the 2-2 draw with Workington last weekend with an ankle injury.
City manager Richard Dryden says he will give the 26-year-old until the last minute to prove his fitness for the Blue Square North clash at Haig Avenue.
"Adam has had quite a few stitches in his ankle," said Dryden. "Hopefully he will be fit for Saturday, but the gash is in an area which is quite painful for a footballer.
"We will give him until the last minute, he has played every game for us so he has not lost any of his fitness."
Fellow St George's Lane striker Mark Danks is set for a scan on a knee injury that has been plaguing him since the end of December.
Dryden was hoping to get the all-clear from the club's board to send the 23-year-old forward to see a knee specialist.
The former Wolverhampton Wanderers trainee, who was City's leading scorer last term, has been playing through the pain barrier in recent weeks.
Dryden, however, hopes that they will soon be able to get to the bottom of Danks' knee problem.
"Mark is a quick, sharp striker, but with the injury he has got he is not able to show that," said the City boss.
"I'm hoping to get the all-clear from Dave Boddy that we are able to send Mark for a scan. We need to get to the bottom of this problem and quickly."
Former City midfielder Chris Cornes has been re-leased by AFC Telford United.
The former Wolves youngster was the Bucks' play-off hero last year, but he has now fallen out of favour.
