DROITWICH Rugby Club's under 15s travelled to Burntwood and returned with an impressive 40-5 victory.
The game was played in a compact ground with a heavy pitch that did not lend itself to flowing, expansive rugby.
But Droitwich announced their intentions in the first five minutes, Matt Watts powering thr-ough to score a try.
This set the tempo of the first- half with Sam Cave taking advantage of Burntwood's errors to kick a penalty.
After the restart, Droitwich pr-essed forward resulting in Adam Sutterby running in a try and, after some persistent play from the forwards, Sam O'Brian charging over to give Droitwich an 18-0 half-time lead.
Droitwich continued to put up a resolute defence after the break and turned some excellent positional kicking by Watts into scoring opportunities - one of which saw Kieran Ginty diving over.
Burntwood hit back and were rewarded with a try in the corner.
From the restart, however, Droitwich's forwards led the way for Anton Preece to score a well-worked try.
Sam O'Brian then cut through from a scrum to score his second try which Matt Watts converted. In the final minutes of the half Luke Topping ran in the last try of the game.
