Meanwhile, Worcestershire teams are being invited to take part in the Blackthorn British Skittles Championships.

Dorset and Gloucestershire teams have traditionally taken most of the prizes.

Worcestershire had seven teams enter in 2007 and the Anchor Inn-based Highwaymen qualified for the grand finals only to lose to Bath opposition at the first hurdle.

The competition is split into men's, women's and mixed sections and the regional matches start in May.

Any interested teams can call organisers The Shoot Out Club on 01803-210210 before the end of March.
