JORDAN Wise netted the winner for Nunnery Wood Tigers Under 10s as they defeated Kidderminster Lions Cubs 1-0 in the Stourport Youth League.
Tigers roared to second in the table with a spirited display against committed opposition.
They opened on the front foot and Cubs were forced to defend for long periods.
The impressive Luke Obrey forced three good saves from the goalkeeper.
Will Henshall saw two long-range efforts well saved and Christian Eyles had another great effort kept out.
From a Tigers corner, Eyles drove a superb ball in and Obrey rose to see his header just clear the crossbar.
Keeper Adam Westbury did not have a save to make with Ben Jones and Harry Loader calm and effective in defence.
The second-half was a more even affair as Cubs began to compete all over the pitch.
But James Ridge and Obrey again took control of midfield as Cubs' only good chance was screwed wide.
Jai Gilchrist and Jake Rousell worked tirelessly and, with minutes to go, the winner arrived.
Excellent work from Obrey resulted in a cross and man-of-the-match Wise produced a first-time finish.
Nunnery Wood Leopards fell 1-0 at Kidderminster Lions in a battle of two top-five teams in the table.
After a good game, Leopards could consider themselves unlucky not to come away with a share of the spoils.
They started brightly with Jack Ferman at the heart of the best moves.
Ferman provided a pass for Joe Bates who was unfortunate not to score when well placed.
Bates was also denied by good goalkeeping as the score remained goalless at half-time.
After the break, Lions came back into the game and, with time running out, they took the lead with a well-taken goal.
Both Sam Hayes and Connor Thomasson had good games for Leopards, while Ferman's work-rate and quality with the ball was outstanding.
