MOEEN Ali is one of four players retained by holders Chennai Super Kings for the 2022 Indian Premier League (IPL) ahead of the auctions.
Worcestershire Rapids Vitality Blast captain Moeen became the first Englishman to win the IPL last season.
He scored 37 off 20 balls to help the Super Kings defeat Kolkata Knight Riders in last month’s (October’s) final.
Moeen enjoyed a successful 2021 campaign, batting primarily in the number three slot to replace Suresh Raina.
The all-rounder finished as the Super Kings third-highest scorer with 357 runs at an average of 25.50 and a strike rate of 137.30.
His economy rate of 6.35 runs per over across ten innings was the best of the Super Kings bowlers who bowled in at least two matches.
Indian legend MS Dhoni, all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja and opener Ruturaj Gaikwad are the other retained players by the Super Kings.
Moeen is currently playing for Northern Warriors in the Abu Dhabi T10 League.
