IT was derby delight for Malvern Rugby Club last weekend as they romped to a big league win over Hereford RFC at Spring Lane.
Winger Lewis Hardiman scored a hat-trick on the day as Malvern recorded just their second win of the season in some style.
Malvern's other try scorers on the day came from Steph Fourie, Rob Cook, Joe Budd and Joe Allen in what was a compressive win.
The Spring Lane faithful were treated to a feast of tries and Malvern had scored three inside the opening 10 minutes (Fourie, Hardiman x2) to set them on their way.
Hereford did cross afterwards but a couple more from Malvern (Hardiman, Cook) before the break gave them a healthy 29-5 lead at half-time.
The onslaught carried through to the second period and scrum-half Budd and centre Allen touched down before Hardiman crossed for a fourth to complete the rout.
The bonus-point win means that Malvern sit in 10th place with 13 points from their seven games, whilst Hereford remain in 8th.
Malvern will face much tougher opposition this weekend as they travel to high-flying Kenilworth for a 3pm kick-off.
The hosts on Saturday have won six of their seven games so far in the 2021/22 season and narrowly beat Ludlow 13-15 last time out.
