JAMIE Price admits he was shocked to scoop a double award in only his second month with Worcester City.
The 19-year-old Welshman has been in fine form for the St George's Lane side after being brought to the club by caretaker boss John Barton at the start of November.
But Richard Dryden's arri-val as manager saw Price swiftly switched from his position at left-back to a midfield role and he has since been a revelation for the team.
His hard-working displays endeared him to the fans overnight and he deposed George Clegg as the resident set-piece taker.
Price's efforts earned him the player-of-the-month award for December from the club's fans and Blue Square North quickly followed suit by handing him the league gong.
In that time Price played all six league games for City and contributed to goals against Solihull Moors, Boston, Harr-ogate and Redditch as the result of his dangerous in-swinging deliveries.
The teenager said: "I was quite surprised and also honoured. I was shocked to get player-of-the-month for the club and the league.
"It wasn't a bad month. With the new manager coming in the atmosphere's been a lot better. We had a pretty good month and let's hope we can keep it going.
"Richard Dryden was second in command at Tamworth when they took me on loan from Birmingham City so he knew me well and knew my real position was somewhere in midfield.
"Luckily we had someone else to play left-back which pushed me further up the pitch and it's done me good."
He added: "When you're a new player at a club, there are other people who have different qualities or the same as yourself, but when the manager can see what you can do it's up to them."
Price, though, insists the success of the team and their continuing pursuit of the Blue Square North play-offs comes before his own personal glory.
"It's not just about me," he said. "It's about getting the team as high as we can up the league and towards the play-offs.
"We are going to try and go until the end of January unbeaten."
