KIDDERMINSTER Harriers have missed out on signing Nottingham Forest and Republic of Ireland Under 19 international Brendan Moloney.

Aggborough manager Mark Yates was hoping to bring in the 18-year-old defender on loan, however, Moloney opted to join League Two outfit Chesterfield on a month's loan instead.

The Irish teenager made his senior debut for Colin Calderwood's side last season against Gillingham before coming back into the side in August where he faced Bournemouth and League One leaders Swansea City the following week.

"We were hoping to bring someone in before tomorrow's FA Trophy match at Weymouth, but he has gone to Chesterfield," revealed Harriers chairman Barry Norgrove.

Norgrove said it was unlikely that Yates would be able to strengthen the squad ahead of the trip to the Wessex Stadium.

The Aggborough chairman also confirmed that the club has yet to receive offers for any of their players despite growing speculation that League Two side Shrewsbury Town are interested in star striker James Constable.

"There were a number of scouts at the Altrincham match and, quite frankly, I think they would have all left disappointed and that is a good thing for us," added Norgrove.

"It has been a quiet week in terms of the transfer window, but I'm sure it will pick up before the end of the month."
