EVESHAM United manager Paul West insists getting three points at basement boys Berkhamsted cannot be taken for granted.

The Robins visit the Hertfordshire club on Saturday (3pm) for the first of two games in 10 days against the British Gas Business Division One Midlands strugglers.

Berkhamsted, who visit St George's Lane on Tuesday week, have won just once in 20 matches this season and have a goal difference of minus-43.

But Evesham, who harbour ambitions of promotion, lost 1-0 a home to Bishop's Cleeve on New Year's Day and were held to a 1-1 draw at lowly Woodford at the weekend.

West said: "We have had a little lesson with Woodford because they had had a torrid time and people would have expected us to get maximum points there.

"We have to go to Berkhamsted and concentrate on what we need to do. If we do, I have no doubt we will come away with the right result. It will be their cup final so we have to make sure we deal with that.

"I am confident we can beat anybody in this league on our day, regardless of their position."

Prior to their first two games of 2008, Evesham had been on an 11-game unbeaten run and West is keen to replicate a similar sequence.

He said: "I make no bones about it. We have had a great run and we want to get back on one.

"When you do go on such a tremendous run it's a major surprise when you lose a game and things don't go right.

"There's going to be nobody more focused than me. I know we are going to have some twists and turns before the end of the season but it's up to me to make sure the players are focused."

Midfielder Tom Warmer is suspended for the match after picking up five yellow cards, while striker Wes Joyce has left the club.
