Bromsgrove Sporting recorded their first home win on Saturday, beating AFC Rushden & Diamonds 2-1.
Goals from Will Shorrock and Demetri Brown gave Sporting a convincing lead in the first half.
The Rouslers survived a late scare as the Diamonds saw a penalty saved before scoring a consolation goal in the second half.
Shorrock opened the scoring with 12 minutes gone, Liam Spink’s ball into the box eventually finding the midfielder who smartly backheeled it into the bottom corner.
Tom Lorraine came close to equalising for the visitors ten minutes later, his headed effort crashing against the crossbar.
Sporting doubled their lead just before the break, Brown scoring his first goal for the club as he hammered home Jordain Masidi’s lay-off.
Shorrock and Nathan Hayward both had chances to extend the homeside’s lead early in the second half, keeper Dean Snedker making sure the deficit remained at two.
Jack Wilson committed a foul to give the visitors a penalty however Sporting’s keeper Akos Onodi was able to keep out Joel Gyasi’s spot kick effort.
Diamond & Rushden were able to pull one back late on as Lorrell Phillips-Smith scored in the 89th minute. He was able to round Onodi before slotting the ball into the bottom corner.
