LEDBURY Town enjoyed a memorable evening last Friday when both the firsts and reserves were in pre-season action as preparations for the new season ramped up further.
150 spectators watched on at New Street in what was a bumper crowd for the club and the fans were treated to two strong performances from Ledbury.
The first team took on Malvern Town Development and were 2-0 winners thanks to a brace of penalties from Ben Febery.
Febery was influential throughout and twice dusted himself down from being fouled to tuck away the spot-kicks.
He netted his first on 16 minutes after he was fouled in the box and then with five to go, former Ledbury Town ‘keeper James Loader brought Febery down and the Ledbury man tucked away once more.
As for the reserves, they were narrowly beaten 2-1 by Redmarley and Tibberton United.
The visitors were only formed last year when the merger of Redmarley FC and Tibberton United was completed but they just about edged a tight affair against Ledbury.
Having been thrashed 6-0 the week before by Gala Winton, the reserves were much improved but fell behind in the 17th minute when Oli Osbourne took the ball around stand-in keeper for the day Nathan Ince.
Just before the interval they fell further behind as a set-piece snuck inside the far post off the head of Adam Collier.
The hosts pulled one back on the hour through a spectacular volley from Charlie Jones but it was not enough as the away side held on for the 2-1 victory.
