WORCESTER City manager Richard Dryden has called off tomorrow's training session in a bid to avoid any more injuries.

Dryden, whose side beat Hinckley United 2-1 at the weekend, already has a lengthy casualty list and does not want to risk adding to it.

Captain Chris Smith is still sidelined with an ankle problem, while fellow defender Kevin Spencer was only able to be named on the bench on Saturday following his knee injury sustained against Redditch.

Rapinder Gill is still struggling with an ankle injury picked up on New Year 's Day, striker Troy Wood is out for at least a fortnight and Shabir Khan is a long-term absentee along with goalkeeper Danny McDonnell.

In addition, defender Ryan Clarke and forward Mark Danks have been playing through the pain barrier in recent games with back and knee complaints respectively.

Dryden said: "I'm going to give them tomorrow night off, which might sound a bit strange to some people considering we only train two nights a week.

"But it's been a long Christmas period with a lot of injuries and the last thing I need now is someone going down injured. That gives me time to go out and watch a game."

He added: "Smith is struggling for a bit longer than we'd hoped.

"Clarke needs a rest although he's still soldiering on. Wood is going to be out for two to three weeks. It just goes on and on."
