KIDDERMINSTER Harriers stretched their unbeaten run to seven games despite letting a two-goal lead slip at in-form York City.

Michael McGrath and Iyseden Christie put Harriers ahead but Onome Sodje and Craig Farrell hit back at Kit-Kat Crescent.

Harriers' manager Mark Yates was without James Constable, Justin Richards, Russ Penn and Andy Ferrell for the Blue Square Premier clash but was able to draft in midfielder Dean Bennett, on loan from Chester City for the second time this season, and veteran defender Jeff Kenna.

The visitors were ahead within two minutes of the kick-off when McG-rath's powerful effort beat keeper Tom Evans from the egde of the penalty area.

Midfielder Emmanuel Panther then wasted two opportunities to draw his side level, heading over the bar when well-placed and firing wide after good work from Martyn Woolford and Sodje.

Harriers doubled their advantage on 24 minutes following some poor defending from the hosts.

Matthew Barnes-Homer got free down the right flank after a York counter attack had collapsed and Christie was on hand to tap home the striker's cross at the far post.

York, though, were level before the half-time interval as Sodje halved the deficit on 31 minutes and Farrell equalised three minutes later.

Harriers then had to weather a York storm as the hosts piled forward in search of a third goal.

Whenever York did find a way through the Harriers' back line they found Scott Bevan in fine fettle. The Harriers' keeper denied Woolford nine minutes after the break and dived at the feet of Panther to smother another effort.

Striker Barnes-Homer had Harriers' best chance to leave Yorkshire with all three points but he was thwarted by keeper Evans after being played in by McGrath, Sodje then fired wide and Farrell chipped over Bevan's goal as York stepped up their efforts to grab a winner.

For Harriers, Christie had an effort saved by Evans and substitute Brian Smikle drove a shot across goal.

The game ended with a bit of drama when Kidderminster defender Mark Creighton was booked for losing his temper after he was elbowed in the face by York sub Richard Brodie.

Harriers: Bevan, Kenna, Hurren, Creighton (Whitehead 93), Russell (Smikle 74), Blackwood (Harkness 92), McGrath, Bignot, Bennett, Barnes-Homer, Christie.
