GOALS from Matt Birley, Kevin Banner and Sam Allsop gave Bromsgrove Rovers a 3-1 victory over Hitchin Town in the British Gas Business Premier Division.

Rovers were also indebted to keeper Karl Lewis for a string of fine saves to ensure the Victoria Ground side completed a season double over their visitors following a 1-0 win in Hertfordshire last month.

Duane Darby's side also had to play the majority of the game with ten men after midfielder David Bridgwater was shown a second yellow card mid-way through the first-half.

Lewis denied David Deeney and Paul Armstrong before Rovers took the lead after 31 minutes when Birley accepted Banner's pass to beat Ricky Perks.

Brett Donnelly's volley from the edge of the area brought Hitchin level five minutes after the break but Rovers restored their lead through Banner's 65th-minute strike.

Allsop added the third from a tight angle three minutes later.

n Peter Wood scored in the third minute of injury-time to salvage a 1-1 draw for Stourport Swifts at Willenhall Town in Division One Midlands.

Mark Briggs had volleyed the hosts in front on 34 minutes but Wood pounced at the close after Willenhall had failed to clear.
