MANAGER Richard Dryden says Worcester City's last-gasp victory against Hinckley United is proof his team have the will to win.

Emeka Nwadike headed a 92nd-minute winner to give City a 2-1 success at St George's Lane and with it the season double over Hinckley following the 4-2 win in August.

The stand-in skipper's dramatic strike was the third time Worcester have left it late to grab all the points in recent weeks after Ryan Clarke's heroics at Solihull Moors and Mark Danks' strike against Boston.

"The spirit is good here," Dryden said. "When things aren't going well or we 're not playing well, we keep on going and doing the right things.

"We've scored in the last couple of minutes, like we did against Boston at home, and that just says to me we've got plenty of spirit to go and win games.

"I wouldn't have taken a point with 10 minutes to go. I thought it was going to grind down to a 1-1 draw but I'm delighted to get that last minute winner.

"If you're getting battered by a side, sometimes you'll take 1-1 or a 0-0 but we weren't getting battered."

He added: "It wasn't a great spectacle from both sides and I don't think it was ever going to be.

"I think when you're down in the bottom three, like Hinckley are, you're scrapping for as many points as you can. It was a slow and very tedious first-half and it opened up a little bit when we scored, which excites the fans a little bit, but for me it was too slow.

"I don't think they caused us too many problems until we went 1-0 up and they came out and had a go.

"We didn't play great, we've played a lot better, but I think we got what we deserved through hard work, not just today but over the last seven weeks. I thought all in all we were the better side."

The result left Worcester eighth in Blue Square North, seven points adrift of Hyde United, who now occupy the last play-off position.

Hinckley remain in the relegation zone but Dryden believes Dean Thomas's side will start to climb the table soon.

The City boss said: "People say they're only third from bottom but they are not a third from bottom side.

"They are a good side, they shouldn't be in the bottom three with the players they have got and the spirit they have got." Dryden also praised the efforts of the players called on to fill in amid City's current injury crisis.

He said: "Graham Ward, who's played right-back, keeps himself fit and Jamie Price did a good job at left-back although he's not comfy there. Then you've got Nick Colley who came on and to be fair to Nick he probably changed the game.

"I think Gary Walker was exceptional. He hasn't played a lot here and he's played two games in four days, he looked a bit tired at the end but he kept on going."
