WHEN Duane Darby was handed the reins on a temporary basis at Bromsgrove Rovers last month he started with a win at Hitchin Town.

On Saturday the former Rushden and Diamonds striker will look to complete a British Gas Business Premier Division double over the Canaries at the Victoria Ground (3pm).

Although he does not want the manager's hot-seat at Bromsgrove on a permanent basis, the 34-year-old would like to remain at the club in a coaching capacity.

"In the long-term, I'm not in the frame for the job but I know there isn't a rush to bring in a new manager, especially with things going well," he said.

"I would like to stay on and help with the coaching. I have enjoyed my time as a manager, but it is very frustrating.

"You kick every ball and the time doesn't go as quickly as when you are on the pitch."

Darby has been pleased with the Rovers squad since he replaced the sacked Rod Brown in December, having picked up two wins and two draws in his five games in charge.

Hungarian striker Jozsef Jakab has shone for Rovers since his move from Solihull Moors, netting three goals.

With Darby at least a month away from fitness due to an Achilles injury, Jakab must continue in the same form.

But Darby will be without Matt Birley and Richard Ball due to injuries, while Chris McHale misses out through suspension with Andy Jones coming in for the defender.

"I gave Andy his chance against Leamington in the league cup a few weeks ago. He did really well and deserves this opportunity."
