EX-Birmingham City youngster Koby Arthur is ramping up his fitness with Kidderminster Harriers.
Arthur, 24, left Macclesfield Town over the summer and had been out of the game prior to featuring in a youthful Harriers side's 3-0 defeat at Alvechurch in the Worcestershire Senior Cup this week.
The Ghana-born attacking midfielder made 16 first-team appearances for the Blues and had loan experience with Lincoln City and Cheltenham Town before heading to Macclesfield.
Penn told the Harriers website: “We invited Koby in about four weeks ago now – obviously we were going to be interested because of the pedigree he has.
“We needed to get an idea on how fit he was and said to him that we’d register him to play in the game [on Tuesday] and any reserve games that come up.
“He’s not ready to be involved heavily with our first team yet but his ability is there when he’s fit, so we’ve got to get him to that point and we’ll see where we go.”
Penn added that the club is continuing to monitor talent with a view to making additions either between now and the end of the season or beyond.
“We’d be silly to not be looking at some faces for the future as well as the present," he added.
It comes as Harriers look to build on an upturn in fortunes when heading up to Gateshead in National North today (3pm).
A 1-0 victory at Farsley Celtic on Tuesday made it seven points from three league matches, delivering an 11-point cushion over the two relegation berths.
It will be no picnic against a Heed outfit that fills the place below the play-off cut off on the back of an eight-match unbeaten streak since losing to lowly Blyth Spartans on Boxing Day.
Harries drew 1-1 at home to Gateshead in December.
