- WORCESTER Warriors director of rugby Alan Solomons is likely to make wholesale changes for the visit of Enisei-STM on Saturday, as he copes with a mounting injury list.
- Solomons admitted the injury situation was “not too good” following the heavy defeat at Saracens last weekend and he would be freshening up his starting 15 for the European Challenge Cup fixture.
- “It was a tough afternoon last Saturday and there will be players that will get a game this weekend that don’t normally.
- "There will be changes and certainly opportunities for the youngsters to play,” he said.
- As well as lock Michael Fatialofa's serious injury at Allianz Park, Callum Black, Sam Lewis, Conor Carey and Ryan Mills all needed treatment after the bruising encounter.
- “Some of the news is positive. We thought Ryan Mills had broken his foot but it isn’t broken, just very bruised," added Solomons.
- “Conor Carey has ruptured his achilles and Sam Lewis has a suspected fracture in his cheek bone.
- “Callum Black is having problems with his foot. He won’t be considered for the weekend and neither will any of those guys.”
- Meanwhile, Scottish fly-half Duncan Weir remains out of contention with a jaw injury sustained in the win over London Irish.
- “He is still saying his jaw is painful. It was quite a shot he took but he’s had the dental work done now but that will just take time,” said the Warriors director of rugby.
- However, there was some more positive news on the injury front, with the likes of Cornell Du Preez, Perry Humphreys and Nick Schonert expected to return imminently.
- “Nick will hopefully be on the bench this weekend as we are a little short at prop. He practiced today so that’s good for us.
- “Cornell won’t play this weekend but he should be better to play against Castres.
- "Humphreys is coming on well. He has had an injection in his ankle so he won’t be available this weekend but he will for next.”
- Enisei-STM have lost all four games in the European Challenge Cup so far and Warriors beat them 57-14 in Russia in the reverse fixture.
