AN injury to a basketball cheerleader led to a 17-minute delay with just 17 seconds left of Worcester Wolves' defeat to Glasgow Rocks tonight.

Wolves were 76-69 behind in the BBL Championship at the University of Worcester Arena when the young Wolverines dancer suffered the mishap during an on-court routine while there was a time-out.

The cheerleader was assessed where she landed before being taken away on a stretcher and the game eventually restarted with no further score in the final 17 seconds.

It is believed she was treated for a suspected dislocation of the kneecap by the Wolves physios and off-duty paramedics before going to hospital.
