AN 11-year-old Worcester City Youth striker is a step closer to his goal of a professional career after signing for West Bromwich Albion.
Tyrese Sibanda has clinched a one-year contract with the Championship club’s academy after showcasing his talent and prolific goalscoring for City’s junior sides over the past two seasons.

After switching from his local Evesham United side, Sibanda became an integral part of a successful team who won numerous tournaments and trophies including the Precision Pass Chelsea event at Stamford Bridge and the UK International Cup at St George’s Park.
He also picked up a host of club awards for his prowess in front of of goal as voted for by his team-mates.
Sibanda’s performances have attracted the interest of several Football League teams but it was the approach from the Baggies that his parents and coaching team at Worcester decided was the right one for him to take.
His father Kays said: “From a very young age Tyrese has been kicking a ball or anything that looked like a ball at every opportunity and his love for football has always been evident.
"It doesn’t surprise us that he is pursuing his dream of playing football or enjoying every moment involved with the game.”
City under 12s coach Kevin Brookes was full of praise for Sibanda and wished him the best of luck for the future.
“Tyrese is a true team player who is well-liked and well-respected by his team-mates, works hard at his game and is always willing to learn and take on board the coaching we’ve given him,” said Kevin.
“When West Brom’s head of recruitment approached us to invite Tyrese for trials, it felt the right opportunity for him to take and he proved that by winning a contract for this season.
“Whilst we’re sad to see him go it’s fantastic for us as a junior football club to see players develop, flourish and produce the talent that gets noticed by Football League clubs.”
