- FT: Wellington 0 City 5 (Harrison 37, 60, Brown 57, 73, Ruddock 79)
- CITY eventually ran riot after a rocky start to demolish Wellington 5-0 in the FA Vase.
- There were some early wobbles for Worcester with Joe Hawkins forced to clear off the line a Paul Jones effort across goal 26 minutes in.
- Either side of that City had built pressure, though, and it told eight minutes before half-time when Demetri Brown’s cutback from the right ran behind Jordan Harrison who seized control and found a finish inside the far post from 18 yards.
- City swarmed Wellington from the start of the second half but briefly got overran and were lucky not to ship an equaliser when Brendan Hackett’s curling shot beat keeper Dan Jezeph only to hit the backside of home striker Saul Thomas.
- Within a minute City had doubled their lead thanks to more fortune with keeper Dan Tecza dropping the ball at the feet of Brown who rolled into the empty net.
- That knocked the fight out of Wellington with City creating a hatful of chances for the rest of the game, Harrison bundling in number three from a corner attacked by Hawkins on the hour.
- Hawkins then hit the bar from another Liam Lockett flag kick but the fourth was not far away as Brown seized on another slice of luck, his shot deflecting up and over Tecza having hit a defender.
- Substitute Tyreece Ruddock rounded off the scoring with 11 minutes to go, lifting a looping header over Tecza from the far post to convert Brown’s driven left-wing cross.
- City progress to the second qualifying round to face league rivals Highgate United, 11-1 winners over Ellistown in their Vase opener today, and bank £550 in prize money.
