CHAIRMAN Kevin Jenkins vowed to ban those involved in landing Worcester Raiders with a £515 FA fine.

Jason Gormley, brother of manager Karl Gormley, has been banned from all football activity for seven years on the back of an FA Disciplinary Commission finding charges against him proven.

Jenkins says Jason and fellow spectator Darren Campbell, who has been banned for 10 matches, will no longer be welcome at Claines Lane and that Raiders officials will make rival clubs aware of their presence at away matches.

The charges related to incidents at a West Midlands (Regional) League Division One fixture between Raiders and Darlaston Town (1874) at Claines Lane on February 23.

Darlaston filed complaints with the Football Association (FA) over “numerous incidents” of alleged “violence, racist and abusive comments” shortly after with counter claims submitted by Raiders.

Jason Gormley acknowledged his ban but did not comment further when approached by Worcester News, while Campbell’s is listed on the Worcestershire FA’s suspension portal.

Jenkins believes the duo will be prevented by from attending Raiders matches by the county association but confirmed the club would apply the ban itself irrespective of any terms or appeals.

“I believe they have a ban from our home ground anyway that has been instigated by the Worcestershire FA,” said Jenkins.

Asked if the club would issue their own ban either way, Jenkins said: “Yes. We are trying to be a new club and proactive with discipline.

“We are introducing season tickets for home and away games. They have to be applied for and if you don’t have one you would not be covered by us accepting responsibility for your actions at an away ground.

“It is a bit like we did at the end of last season, we asked supporters to register their interest in going to away games. I would then go to the gate and give them a list of people we accept responsibility for, these are the away fans we know of.

“If any one of those entered the field of play, whatever it might be, we would accept responsibility for that. It will be the same system this time.

“If people refused season tickets go to away games it is not our responsibility.”

Jenkins also confirmed anyone not on the list known to have caused problems in the past would be pointed out by Raiders officials.

As well as the fine, Raiders defender George Corbett has been issued with a three-match ban that Jenkins says he will appeal.

“You cannot deny what happened, we have to take it on the chin and put things right this season. That’s the attitude of the club,” added Jenkins.

“We had one hell of a season last season disciplinary wise and we are doing everything in power to put it right and not become the subject of newspaper and social media comments.

“We need to get our heads down and concentrate on football. The problems have all been dealt with.

“We just want to draw a line under it and move on.”

A representative of Worcestershire FA declined to comment on the case, citing that the period for appeals had yet to expire.

The Football Association has yet respond.
