AN own goal extended Kidderminster Harriers' unbeaten run as they defeated 10-man Halifax Town in a poor game at Aggborough last night.

Cortez Belle headed past his own keeper in the second-half after the visitors had lost Anthony Griffith on just 13 minutes for stamping on Harriers midfielder Dean Bennett.

Mark Yates' men have now gone four games without defeat with just two goals conceded in that eight-point spell.

Yates kept the same side that drew 1-1 with Crawley on Saturday and they started brightly.

Harriers put over several testing crosses before Griffith received his marching orders.

Keeper Adam Ledgzins tipped away a dangerous cross-shot from full-back Paul Bignot.

But Kidderminster struggled to breach a solid Halifax back-line in the first-half despite their one-man advantage.

James Constable volleyed just wide early in the second period as boss Yates introduced young midfielder Michael McGrath.

Battling Halifax edged their way into the game but Harriers began to up their performance with McGrath, Michael Blackwood and Bennett all going close.

However, it looked like being a frustrating evening until Belle nodded in Constable's cross on 71 minutes.

Constable was supplied by sub Andy Ferrell who had only just replaced the ineffective Jonny Harkness.

Harriers then fought off plenty of pressure from the visitors in search of the equaliser. Belle hit the post with a deflected free-kick and Daryl Taylor had an effort disallowed for a foul as Harriers hung on.

Harriers: MacKenzie; Bignot (McGrath 46), Whitehead, Creighton, Harkness (Ferrell 70); Penn, Bennett, Hurren, Blackwood; Richards, Constable. Subs not used: Coleman, Smikle, Barnes-Homer.

Attendance: 1,365.
