ON-LOAN Kidderminster Harriers keeper Chris MacKenzie is ready to rectify his Crawley howler when they host Halifax Town in the Blue Square Premier tomorrow night (7.45).

The 35-year-old, who returns to Shrewsbury on October 20, rolled the ball out to kick it long as Harriers seemed to be in control after James Constable's 10th goal of the season.

However, Crawley's hot-shot Guy Madjo was lurking behind the former Chester City custodian and he stole the ball from MacKenzie to snatch a comical equaliser.

But the veteran custodian, who also doubles as the New Meadow side's goalkeeping coach, is not going to let that mistake get him down for the clash with the Shaymen.

"I'll just take it on the chin," he said. "I had no call from anyone but I suppose they all thought that I had the situation under control.

"I put the ball on the floor to clear it long but the cheeky striker was behind me and came in and scored."

Since beginning his one-month loan spell at Aggborough, MacKenzie has suspended his coaching duties at Shrewsbury to concentrate on his football. It has been a move he has thoroughly enjoyed.

"Until you move away from it, you don't realise how much you need to think about yourself and your game," MacKenzie explained.

"As a keeper, you need to be able to concentrate an enormous amount on your game and prepare in the right manner and focus on yourself."

MacKenzie, who has played four games since he moved down the A442, is enjoying the game time he is getting at Harriers but is unsure whether he will remain at Aggborough when the month is over.

"I'm sure that both the keepers (Scott Bevan and Dean Coleman) will be fit by the time my loan is up," he said.

"So I'm sure that I will be going back but nothing has been said."

Harriers boss Mark Yates will be without Bevan (thigh), defender Jeff Kenna (stomach), midfielder Simon Russell (thigh) and striker Iyseden Christie (ankle) for the clash against the Yorkshire outfit.
