LIONEL Ainsworth looks set to miss Hereford United's Johnstone's Paint Trophy second round tie against Yeovil Town tomorrow night (7.45).

Speedster Ainsworth tore the Glovers apart with a first-half hat-trick in August when the Bulls won 4-1 in the Carling Cup.

But the former Derby winger missed Hereford's 2-0 victory against Brentford on Saturday with a groin injury and is a doubt for the Edgar Street match.

Boss Graham Turner is also likely to make other changes for the visit of Russell Slade's League One side, possibly drafting in reserve goalkeeper Mike Ingham, but insists Hereford will not devalue the competition.

He said: "I think there are one or two who have been doing well in training.

"People like John McCombe and Mike Ingham need a game.

"We don't want to treat the competition with anything less than respect but it does give us an opportunity to make one or two changes, freshen the side up a little bit and maybe progress."

Luke Webb replaced Ainsworth in Saturday's line-up and took full advantage with two goals in three first-half minutes.

Turner was pleased with the performance as a whole but thought his team could have done better in the final third.

He said: "I thought overall we deserved to win it and it was a solid team performance.

"There is competition for places and Luke has taken his chance well.

"Brentford have got some hard-working, difficult players to play against and we found that at times but we did keep the ball well.

"The disappointment was the good positions we had we didn't make the most.

"We didn't make them into goalscoring chances when we should have done."

Yeovil, 11th in the table, go into the match on the back of an 89th-minute 1-0 defeat at unbeaten Leeds United.

The Somerset club are currently enduring an injury crisis with their skipper Terry Skiverton among the casualties.
