WESTFIELDS bounced back from last week's 3-0 home defeat by Barwell to record a fine 1-0 home win over Boldmere St Michaels.

The Hereford side, strengthened by the returns of John Pugh, Jamie Cuss and Jamie Edwards, completed an early Midland Alliance double.

After beating Boldmere 2-0 on the opening day of the season, they gave a hard-working team performance against a quick visiting team.

The match was settled by a 69th-minute penalty from Mark Hibbard after Paul Allam had been chopped down. Boldmere almost snatched the lead when Josh McKenzie's header was cleared by Edwards.

In the 40th minute, striker Tom Harding got free but his low drive was brilliantly saved by Ryan Price.

After the interval Boldmere came more into the game and Pugh tipped Ricky Baker's 12-yard volley around the post.

Defender Alex Hunt was in superb form for Westfields.

Westfields head to Alvechurch tonight (7.45).

Meanwhile, Bromyard Town's disappointing season continued with a 1-0 defeat at Wednesfield in the West Midlands League Premier Division.

The visitors were unlucky not to at least hold on to a share of the points.

The only goal came in the 30th minute when a free-kick was netted before the referee's whistle. After the break, Bromyard dominated with new signings Dave Powell and Nick O'Connell going close.

But they were unable to convert the pressure into goals, leaving them firmly at the foot of the table.

Ledbury Town stopped the recent bad run with a hard-earned 3-3 draw at home to Darlaston Town.

Ledbury took the lead on six minutes when Phil Preedy's ball set up Ollie Endacott to blast the ball past the keeper.

But Darlaston hit back to level through Nicholls on 26 minutes.

Endacott scored from the spot on 55 minutes after Preedy was fouled only for Leon Clayton to level quickly.

Ledbury's hard work seemed to be wasted when Palmer scored a penalty but Zac Blood bagged a deserved equaliser.
